School Closure for COVID-19: 24 July
Update from Mr Chris Luman on COVID-19 school closure
Good afternoon Parents and Guardians
COVID -19 Update 24 July 2020 – School Closure
In light of the President’s announcement last evening and the directive from the Head of Department Dr Nzama, there will be no school or any on-line learning for any Forms next week. At this point in time only our 6th Form boys are to return to school on Monday 3 August at 07:15.
We continue to ask for your support in ensuring adherence to the lockdown Alert Level 3 regulations, given the social conduct of our boys and its direct effect on the school environment. I reported last week of the direct influence of such activities on the school. One particular incident involving four boys has created seven positive cases, of which some were transferred to peers at the school as they had no part in the social event itself, we are still receiving positive reports from this single incident. This behaviour directly caused the school to be closed this week. This could have been avoided if these boys and parents simply followed the regulations. Once again, we are pleading to parents to support the school by not allowing your boys to socialise outside of the lockdown Alert Level 3 regulations.
Further communication towards the end of next week will be forthcoming from Mr Talke and Mr Kyle relating to the arrangements for the return of the 6th Form and academic on-line learning arrangements for 2nd to 5th Form.
Thank you for your understanding and support in this matter. We ask that the boys take time to rest and rejuvenate as we continue to charter these extremely turbulent and uncertain waters.
God Bless – Stay healthy, safe and of sound mind.
Pro aris et Focis
Chris Luman – Headmaster
