Thank you for considering Maritzburg College for your son's high-school education.

Before you start to complete the online application, please note:

• You will need a valid email address and personal information such as ID numbers, addresses and contact numbers for the parents/guardians.
• The documents listed below are required. Please make sure that these are scanned and ready to upload.
• Only .pdf files are accepted. For the applicant's photo, image files are also accepted.
• If any of these documents are more than one page in length (e.g. a 3-page clinic card) please scan these pages into a single pdf.
• A copy of the completed application form will be emailed to you.
• Incomplete/incorrectly completed application forms may be disqualified. Please discuss any queries with our admissions department before filling in the application form.

A copy of the applicant's report

If applying for Grade 8, please remember to send us a copy of the applicant's Grade 6 June and December report once you have received it.

• You can still submit the application form in the meantime.
• Please do not submit any other reports as we only assess boys on their Grade 6 June and December reports.

If applying for Grades 9-11, we require a copy of the previous year's December report, as well as the applicant's latest/mid- year report.

 

A certified copy of the applicant's unabridged (full) birth certificate.

This reflects the names and ID numbers of the applicant and both his parents.

• If you do not have the new (unabridged) certificate, you may submit the old (abridged) certificate in the meantime.
• However, you must apply for the unabridged birth certificate.
• Please ensure that you send us the new unabridged certificate before the applicant starts at Maritzburg College, as no learner may be admitted without this.

 

Foreign Applicant Requirements

• A certified legible copy of the applicant's passport (depicting his picture and the entry stamp to South Africa).
• A certified copy of a valid study permit (if applicable) or parent's work permit.
• A copy of the report from the last school attended outside South Africa.
• A letter from the previous school confirming the date of registration and date of departure.
• A letter and report from the first school attended in South Africa (if applicable).

 

A copy of the applicant's full clinic card (This must reflect all the vaccines administered, including the 4 - 6 year vaccine)

• This must include the front page of the clinic card that reflects the applicant's name, as well as all the pages with the records of his vaccinations.
• Please combine the pages into a single clinic card PDF.
• The school is not allowed to accept any learner without proof of vaccinations.

A COPY OF BOTH PARENTS'/GUARDIANS' IDENTITY DOCUMENTS (OR DEATH CERTIFICATE IF A PARENT/GUARDIAN IS DECEASED)

• Single parents: Please click here to read this explanation (before proceeding), as you may be required to upload an Affidavit provided by the finance department.
• If you are unable to provide all details of the applicant's other biological parent (e.g. ID numbers, addresses, contact numbers) please discuss your situation with our finance department before completing this application.

 

A recent photo of the applicant

• This should be an image or PDF file.
• A passport-style face photo would be ideal.

 

Proof of residence

• A utility bill, proof of bank account (reflecting residential address), lease agreement or affidavit from the person who owns/leases the property on which you live will suffice.

 

Any additional documents to support the applicant's application (optional)

• Any additional documents or information (not included in the above). Examples include academic and sporting certificates.

 

POPI Act Compliance

Please note that by completing this application, you are providing your consent for the information provided to be used for assessment of suitability and acceptance processes, including credit checks, carried out by College during the application process. Your information will only be used for the admissions process, and will be retained for a period of 10 years, after which it will be destroyed. Should you refuse or withhold your consent for your information to be used for these purposes, in relation to the admissions process, this will constrain the School’s ability to process your son’s application to Maritzburg College.

Applications for Grade 8 close at the end of February of boys’ Grade 7 year. However, you may still apply after the closing date, but it is unlikely that your son’s application will be processed at our admissions meetings. Thereafter, should any places become available, we will look at the late applications that were submitted.
