Khanyisa kicks off its 2022 Programme

The Khanyisa 2022 programme began with an opening session on campus with the DoE and our sponsors Hulamin, to review our 2021 achievements as well as confirm plans for the year ahead.

The objective of the meeting were to celebrate the milestones the programme achieved last year with its learners and educators, and to address any challenges.

Attended by all our key stakeholders, we are grateful to the speakers, Ms Noma Khanyile Communications Manager from Hulamin and Mr Simelane CES from the Department of Education for providing guidance and direction for this life changing programme. A number of strategies and ideas were shared on how to improve the life of the learner and ultimately help us support our schools to produce better quality NSC results.

During the week we had both our first teacher and learner sessions; on Wednesday we hosted English educators for their English session with Mrs Mthembu and Saturday, we welcomed 100 grade 12 learners for their Mathematical session. The learners were fortunate to have Mr David Maistry sharing his 36 years of teaching Mathematics and experience as a Chief Marker for the DOE, and it was especially rewarding to see learners extending themselves with the difficult Mathematical questions.

Thank you Hulamin for the generous sponsorship of this initiative and to all the Maritzburg College staff for ensuring the programme runs smoothly.
