Overview Sporting Achievements

Canoeing

Nine of our Maritzburg College boys as well as a number of our Old Boys took on the grueling 3 day MyLife Dusi Canoe Marathon, producing some excellent results.

Top honours went to College old boys Andy Birkett and Dave Evans, overall winners in their K2; a 9th consecutive and 12th overall win for Andy, and a first win for Dave!

Our U18 boys did extremely well, with James Goble and his partner finishing in 3rd place in their age category.

College’s head canoe coach, Bridgette Hartley, finished in 3rd place in the women’s race paddling with Pippa McGregor.

 

Basketball

College hosted a very successful U19 and U14 basketball tournament this weekend, competing against 9 schools. Our own boys played extremely well, with both teams progressing to the finals and winning all their matches. Our U14A emerged the victors of the junior tournament beating Northwood 50-36. Our U19 also won their final match and their section of the tournament with a score of 91-67 against Northwood.

Waterpolo

College’s 2nd team took part in the Logan Stanley 2nd Team Festival over the weekend finishing 11th .
