Despite the game ending in a draw, the 1st XI game was hard-fought by both sides. Defensive errors accounting for each team’s goal. This coming weekend, College will take on St Charles, and the 1st XI will be taking part in the PMB FA Cup, at Hilton College.

U17 Match Report (Mr Kelvin Elder)
College’s U17 team participated in the DHS 7’s tournament held at DHS this past weekend. Maritzburg College was placed in pool D alongside Alexandra High, DHS, and Clifton. On day one the boys faced Alexandra High and ran away victors 82-0. Following on from that wonderful performance the men from College went on to beat Clifton Durban 38-7. Our final pool match was against DHS once again, where the home side ran out as victors 7-14. After finishing 2nd in the pool, College faced a very strong Northwood team who showed great promise in the build-up to the Cup Quarter Finals, after a 12-all result when the final whistle went. It went into extra time to see who would go through to the Cup semi-final, and some fancy footwork saw L. Kunene score under the posts to take College through to the Cup playoffs, College was victorious 17-12. The Cup semi-final was played against the host, DHS, and was always going to be a tough contest. After leading 12-7 for some time, DHS managed to score in the dying moments to win 14-12. DHS went on to winning the Cup Final. Maritzburg College will host the Nashua 7’s Tournament this coming weekend.
