Assembly – 8 April Theme: Discipline

THEME: DISCIPLINE

From Scripture:

“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” – Hebrews 12:11 (NIV)

“My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.” – Proverbs 3:11-12 (NIV)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)

A prayer:

Dear Lord, grant us the peace of mind that you are always there for us, to guide and support us, so that with your blessing, we can be disciplined at all times. Amen

EID /RAMADAAN

As the blessed month of Ramadaan draws to a close this week, I would like to take this opportunity to wish our Muslim staff and boys a joyous EID (celebrations will begin on Wednesday or Thursday depending on the sighting of the moon). May God accept all your efforts during the month and I am hopeful that it was a spiritually uplifting period for everyone.

THEME: DISCIPLINE

In Term1 we looked at the core value of SELF-DISCIPLINE in light of recent disciplinary issues and also with regards to choices that we make around our devices and social media. Today we are going to look at DISCIPLINE.

In a world filled with distractions and temptations, discipline stands as the beacon of strength and guidance. It’s easy to be swayed by the allure of instant gratification or the thrill of rebellion, but true character is forged in the melting pot of discipline. Discipline is not merely about following rules or conforming to norms; it’s about cultivating self-control, resilience, and integrity. It’s about making the hard choices today for a better tomorrow.

Without discipline, our potential remains untapped, and our dreams remain distant fantasies. As young men, you are the future leaders, innovators, and builders of society. Your actions today shape the world of tomorrow. Remember, discipline is not a restriction, but rather a liberation. It frees you from the shackles of mediocrity and empowers you to reach new heights.

Jim Rohn says that  “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment.”

This quote encapsulates the essence of discipline. It is the bridge that spans the gap between where you are and where you aspire to be. Without discipline, your goals remain distant mirages, forever out of reach.

Former US President Roosevelt stated “With self-discipline, almost anything is possible.”

These words remind us that self-discipline is the key that unlocks the door to endless possibilities. When you possess the strength to control your impulses and focus your efforts, there are no limits to what you can achieve.

Gentlemen,  as you navigate your path of your unique good man journey, remember that discipline is your steadfast companion. Embrace it, nurture it, and let it guide you towards a future brimming with promise and fulfilment. With unwavering determination and disciplined action, you have the power to shape your destiny and leave a lasting impact on the world. Stay disciplined, stay focused, and let your light shine brightly.
