Assembly – 22 April Theme: Gratitude

This week we welcomed our Circuit Manager, Mrs Dlamini to our assembly.
She addressed the boys inspiring and encouraging each of them to give of their very best in all areas at College.

From Scripture

O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! – Psalm 107:1

The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. – Psalm 28:7

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. – Colossians 3: 17

A Prayer

Heavenly Father, we ask that you will guide and help us to value and appreciate how blessed we are and that we should always be grateful for what we have .  Amen

GRATITUDE
Thought for the Week: “The more you practice the art of thankfulness, the more you have to be grateful for.” – ~ NV Peale

This week we focus on the theme of gratitude. Traditionally teenage boys are quite selfish and only think of themselves and what affects them on a daily basis. This is part of growing up and travelling on your own unique good man journey.

Melody Beattie says the following:”Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.”

Your teenage years can be a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences. There are highs, lows, and everything in between. In the midst of all this, it’s easy to get caught up in what we don’t have or what’s not going right.

But here’s the thing – focusing on what we are grateful for can shift our entire perspective. Think about it. There are people who care about you, opportunities that come your way, and even the little things like a sunny day or a good laugh with friends. These are all blessings in disguise. When we acknowledge and appreciate them, we invite more positivity into our lives.

Gratitude isn’t just about saying “thanks” and moving on. It’s about recognizing the value in what we have and who we are. It’s about acknowledging the efforts of those around us – our parents, friends, teachers, mentors, coaches – and everyone who support you on this wild ride called life.

So, how can you practice gratitude?
Start simple. Take a moment each day to reflect on three things you’re thankful for. Write them down, say them out loud, or simply think about them – it works wonders.
And here’s the real secret sauce – expressing gratitude not only benefits you but also those around you. It strengthens relationships, fosters positivity, and spreads good vibes like wildfire.

My challenge to you:
Strive to make gratitude a part of our daily routine. Take the time and effort to appreciate the people, experiences, privileges and opportunities that make your lives awesome.

In conclusion , and in the words of the politician Cicero “Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues but the parent of all others.”

Let us at all times be grateful for what we have and at no time do not take it for granted
