Overview
This weekend saw College’s U15 and U17 teams compete in their first rugby 7s tournament of the year, which was hosted at Glenwood. The U14A hockey side competed in the Top SA Schools tournament in Cape Town while the Squash team took part in the Top SA schools event hosted in Pietermaritzburg. College’s canoeists and cyclists continue to produce excellent results in local competitions.
Rugby 7s
This was the first round of sevens fixtures for College’s U15 and U17 teams, hosted at Glenwood.
The U15 team won their opening game against Eshikhaweni 29-7 and then drew against Westville 12-12. After progressing to the Cup quarter-final, they lost to hosts Glenwood 7-14. They went on to play in the Plate semi-final against Westville winning 28-26, before facing Kearney in the Plate final, eventually going down 14-22.
College’s U17 team won both of their early matches; 47-0 against Pinetown and 29-7 against Northwood 2, before losing narrowly to Michaelhouse 5-7. They faced local rivals St Charles College in the Plate semi-final winning their match 17-14, and then took on Westville in the final securing a 19-12 and finishing as the Plate winners.

Hockey
The College U14 team participated in the Top Schools tournament hosted at Paarl Boys High in Cape Town over the long weekend. Up against the best hockey schools in the country, and with under very challenging weather conditions, the boys did very well finishing in 8th place overall.

Squash
College’s 1st squash team competed against in the Top Schools tournament and finished 5th in South Africa. College was undefeated in the event with three wins and two draws. Congratulations to Bandile Mahaye and Joel Maistry who were both unbeaten throughout the tournament.

Canoeing
College’s canoeists competed in the river series 2 Umgeni Legends race over the weekend. Well done to Keegan Vogt who continued his excellent form winning the U18 event and finishing 3rd overall.

Cycling
College Cycling Team competed at the Curro Salt Rock Race event 2 in some hectically strong frontal winds. Up against 89 competitive male cyclists, College took the top three places in the Junior category, with Luke Newlands securing 1st place, Brent Foster 2nd ad Michael Jewaskiewitz 3rd.
