FROM SCRIPTURE

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” – Proverbs 16:3

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

A PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we ask that you guide and help us to establish our goals as well as ensuring that we achieve them.

Amen

ACTIVE GOALS

Last week we spoke about good communication and what is required to ensure good communication occurs, as well as the significant  role that verbal [actual content ] and non-verbal [body language, facial expressions and tone of voice] plays in communication.

Today we look at making our goals active/dynamic, not just words on paper, and ensuring that they are realised ideally.

To ensure that our goals are dynamic and active, rather than just words, consider the following strategies:

Make Your Goals SMART – I am sure that you have heard of this acronym already

  1. Specific: Clearly define what you want to achieve.
  2. Measurable: Quantify your goals so you can track progress.
  3. Achievable: Ensure your goals are realistic and attainable.
  4. Relevant: Align your goals with your values and priorities.
  5. Time-bound: Set specific deadlines or timeframes.

Break Down Big Goals into Smaller Ones

  1. Create an action plan: Divide large goals into smaller, manageable tasks.
  2. Set milestones: Celebrate progress along the way.
  3. Focus on one task at a time: Avoid overwhelm and maintain momentum.

Create Accountability and Support

  1. Share your goals: Tell a trusted friend, family member, or mentor.
  2. Join a community: Connect with others working towards similar goals.
  3. Find an accountability partner: Regularly check-in and report progress.

Track Progress and Celebrate Successes

  1. Use a goal-tracking system: Write down your goals and progress.
  2. Celebrate small wins: Acknowledge and celebrate each milestone.
  3. Reflect and adjust: Regularly review progress and make adjustments as needed.- remember that goals are dynamic

Stay Flexible and Adaptable

  1. Be open to change: Life can be unpredictable; adjust your goals accordingly.
  2. Learn from setbacks: Use failures as opportunities to grow and learn.
  3. Stay positive and focused: Maintain a growth mindset and keep moving forward.
  4. By implementing these strategies, you’ll be more likely to turn your goals into dynamic and active pursuits, rather than just words on paper.
