1st XI report – Mr N Haswell (Director of Soccer and 1st XI coach)
The Maritzburg College 1st XI participated in the Jody Momple FA Cup at Hilton College on Saturday and Sunday. They won both their group games on Saturday, versus Nomaswazi and Howick High Schools. On Sunday they won their quarter final fixture versus Maritzburg Christian School 4 – 0 and then they progressed to the final by beating Hilton College on penalties in the semi-final. This set up a final versus Michaelhouse. The final was a slow-paced affair, with both teams showing the effects of having played 5 games in 2 days. College were unable to convert the chances they created during the game and the final was decided on penalties, with Michaelhouse emerging victorious and retaining the Cup they won last year.
