The theme for this week is “Back 2 Basics”
Start well – which implies new beginnings.
Zig Ziglar [American Author and motivational speaker, one of the most influential and iconic figures in the personal development and self-help industry, said the following: “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.”
From Scripture
“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth… And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.”- Genesis 1:1-3
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” – 2 Corinthians 5:17:
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” – Isaiah 43:18-19:
“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away… And he who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.'” – Revelation 21:1-5:
How can we apply this in our lives?
- New Creation in Christ: As believers, we are new creations in Christ, with the old passing away and the new coming.
What areas in your life need a new beginning? - Forgiveness and Renewal: God offers us forgiveness and renewal, allowing us to start anew and leave past mistakes behind.
How can you apply the principles of forgiveness and renewal in your life? - Hope for the Future: The Bible offers hope for the future, promising a new heaven and a new earth, where God will dwell with us forever.
What hopes and dreams do you have for your future, and how can you trust God to guide you? - New Beginnings through Prayer: We can experience new beginnings through prayer, seeking God’s guidance and wisdom as we start anew.
How can you seek God’s guidance and wisdom as you start anew?
On a practical basis, what can we do to start well?
- Develop a strong work ethic
- Build resilience and perseverance
- Refine our skills and knowledge
- Clarify our goals and priorities
- Create a solid foundation for future success
In conclusion, let’s make a conscious effort to go back to basics, start well, and build a strong foundation for achieving our goals and realizing our dreams!
Let’s bow our heads and prayer together
A prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
As we stand at the threshold of this new chapter in our life journey, we come to you with gratitude and humility.
Thank you for the gift of life, for the lessons learned, and for the opportunities ahead.
Help us to let go of the past, to release the burdens that weigh us down, and to embrace the promise of a new beginning.
Please guide us as we take our first steps into this unknown territory.
Instil in us the courage to face the challenges, wisdom to make wise decisions, and faith to trust in your goodness.
May this new beginning be a time of renewal, growth, and transformation.
May we be more like you, may we reflect your love, and may we bring glory to your name.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.”

In the words of Malcolm X: “Education is your passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for today.’
I wish you every success in your academic endeavours.
May all your goals be achieved in 2025.
