In Term 2, our program has continued to place a strong emphasis on the core subjects of Mathematics and English. This focused approach is beginning to yield positive results, with many of the boys gaining confidence in their academic abilities and developing stronger, more supportive relationships with their teachers. To further support their progress and readiness for upcoming exams, the boys will be undertaking tests in the coming weeks. These assessments will serve as valuable preparation and help identify areas where additional support may be needed.
Last term, our boys participated in World Book Day celebrations as part of their English lessons. To mark the occasion, they spent dedicated time reading a variety of books, encouraging a love for reading and strengthening their literacy skills. The activity not only promoted engagement with literature but also supported the boys in developing their comprehension and vocabulary in a fun and meaningful way.
In the final week of Term 1, our Khanyisa boys participated in a leadership lesson led by students from Maritzburg College. The session focused on the important theme of respect— both for others and for oneself—and included a PowerPoint presentation to support the discussion. This interactive session provided a valuable opportunity for our boys to engage meaningfully with older learners, learning from their experiences and perspectives. As part of this initiative, the boys were also introduced to the Media Centre, where they gained access to a wide range of books and resources designed to broaden their knowledge and foster independent learning.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the generous sponsors of the Khanyisa Programme. Your continued support has been instrumental in the ongoing success and sustainability of this vital initiative. The Khanyisa Programme remains an incredible asset to our school, enriching the lives of both students and staff. It provides a meaningful platform for us to give back to the children in our community, even in the smallest of ways.
Your sponsorship has played a pivotal role in enabling us to offer academic support, personal growth opportunities, and lasting mentorship to the boys in our care. We sincerely thank you for your commitment and belief in the power of education to make a difference. Together, we are creating brighter futures.
