Easter Egg Collection Drive

R25.00

Description

Maritzburg College is once again holding its Easter Egg Drive.

The drive will be in aid of the Angels Care Centre, Howick and Bonginkosi in Sweetwaters.

  • Angels Care provides for the holistic care and optimal growth of children from indigent homes in the greater Howick area of KwaZulu-Natal, by addressing the basic needs of children and ensuring their access to healthcare, a quality education and other human services. They are currently feeding over 500 children weekly, and providing healthcare to over 600 pupils, with an education programme that reaches out to 110 pupils and supports nearly 1 000 community members.
  • Bonginkosi support about 650 family members in the very impoverished semi-rural area of Sweetwaters on the outskirts of Pietermaritzburg. They are focused on finding ways to create more sustainable, dignified lives for the local people through micro-businesses, crafts and food gardens. They also do literacy and health training (HIV issues, cholera, blood pressure, Covid etc.) when required. At present, they hand out food parcels periodically to ease the effects of unemployment.

All donated Easter eggs will be passed on to these two charities at the start of the April holidays from our community. In these especially hard times for our poor communities, the gift of something even as small as an Easter egg can go such a long way.

The boys have been told about the drive and there is an inter-mentor competition set, to see which mentor class can bring in the most boxes of Easter eggs over the next few weeks.

We have also created an opportunity for you to donate money using this portal through purchasing tickets in multiples of R25, which will be used to buy boxes of Easter eggs.
