Assembly – 9 September

THEME: TRUST

FROM SCRIPTURE:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, God is our refuge.” – Psalm 62:8

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

“Trust is the highest form of human motivation. It brings out the very best in people and creates an environment where they feel valued, respected, and empowered to achieve their full potential.” – ~ Stephen Covey

Trust is the foundation of any strong relationship, whether it’s with family, friends, or even yourself. When you trust someone, you believe in their integrity, their words, and their actions. But trust isn’t just about others; it’s also about trusting yourself and your own abilities.

As the famous poet Maya Angelou once said, ‘Do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.’

Trusting yourself means believing that you’re doing the best you can and being open to learning and growing when you know better. And when it comes to trusting others, remember what the author CS Lewis said; ‘You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.’

Don’t let past betrayals or hurt define your ability to trust others. Instead, focus on building strong, healthy relationships where trust can flourish. Remember, trust is a choice, and it is a choice that requires vulnerability, empathy, and understanding. By choosing to trust yourself and others, you open yourself up to deeper connections, greater growth, and a more fulfilling life.”

In conclusion and in the words of one of the greatest leaders of all time, Madiba,  “The glue that holds all relationships together—including the relationship between the leader and the led—is trust, and trust is based on integrity.” This quote highlights the importance of trust in building strong relationships, whether personal or professional, and emphasizes that trust is founded on integrity. Mandela’s leadership and legacy are a testament to the power of trust and integrity in inspiring and uniting people.

WOMEN’S MONTH SOCIAL AWARENESS PROJECT IN SUPPORT OF LIFELINE

We were very pleased today to welcome Mrs Biyela, the Director of LIFELINE to College. Mrs Biyela, who is also a proud College mom, passed on the organisation’s deep appreciation for the generous donations form boys and parents, which enabled College to hand over 100 rape care packs to Lifeline.

LEADERSHIP CAMPS

Next week will see most of the boys embark on leadership camps, with the 5thh formers doing their work experience. A reminder that all of these are compulsory and provide boys with wonderful opportunities and experiences.

BEHAVIOUR: THEFT

Unfortunately, there are still a number of boys not respecting other people’s property and continuing to steal. Several boys have already been expelled and there are likely to be more. Get the message gentlemen! Stealing in any form is wrong, and boys will be dealt with immediately at the highest level of discipline.

I wish you all a good week.
